Darlington Band Graduate Janaja Lunn signs with South Carolina State University

Darlington High School Band Graduate Janaja Lunn signs with South Carolina State University, receiving a scholarship on Flute.

Janaja Lunn is a recent graduate of Darlington High School. Janaja has served as a flutist in the band for four years. She has been a loyal and devoted member who has given much of her time to Darlington High School's award-winning Horn line since 2017. She has competed in several competitions, concert band evaluations, school concerts, and honor bands. She has traveled with the band to various states such as Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Considering Janaja's band experience, she is considered a well-rounded and versatile Musician. A fun fact, Janaja begin playing the flute in 9th grade as a beginner. Under Mr. Johnson's leadership, she has developed the talent to earn her scholarship money to attend South Carolina State University.

Janaja plans to major in Elementary Education and later plans to become a teacher.

Mr. Johnson stated, "Janaja has eliminated all excuses for student musicians. It is possible that someone can pick up an instrument for the first time and master it within a short period of time. I was always shocked and surprised by her skill set, knowing she had no prior band experience. She definitely deserves this opportunity, and I can't wait to see her in a Marching 101 uniform.

Janaja will depart soon to attend Band Camp with the Marching 101 of South Carolina State University this July. Join us in wishing her well and congratulating her on such an outstanding achievement.
