Darlington High School Band 2022 Graduate Jimmy Hunt signed with South Carolina State University receiving a scholarship on Percussion.
Jimmy Hunt graduated from Darlington High School in 2022. Jimmy has worked with the band for six years as a percussionist. He has been a passionate and steadfast member who has dedicated a lot of time to the award-winning Symphonic Band and the award-winning Marching Falcon Band at Darlington High School. Jimmy worked with our Mikease and Miyon Memorial Youth Camp as a camp instructor as well. Jimmy has played timpani and played in the symphonic band while simultaneously filling in for several auxiliary parts. Jimmy has accumulated a wealth of knowledge through his involvement in the Darlington Band Program. He has visited many states with the band, including Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
Jimmy received a Band scholarship to attend South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC. On top of receiving his band scholarship from SCSU, he has also received a number of band scholarships from other colleges as well.
Director of Bands Brendan Johnson claims Jimmy had to be one of our smallest members ever when I first met him. It was quite wonderful to see Jimmy develop into the man he is today. Jimmy was someone who constantly used good manners and shown a great deal of falcon pride in his daily activities. In our marching band, Jimmy began on the cymbals and progressed to every drum in the percussion line. I wanted to repay Jimmy's family for their generous support of our excellent program by doing everything in my power to secure Jimmy's enrollment in the school of his choice.
Jimmy departed in August 2022 to begin his journey with the South Carolina State University Marching 101 Band. Join us in wishing him well and congratulating him on such an outstanding achievement.
