Darlington Marching Falcon Band Alumna Chauncey Goodson Shines in Education and Leadership

Darlington, SC — The Darlington High School Marching Falcon Band proudly highlights the outstanding achievements of Chauncey Goodson, a dedicated alumna from the Class of 2019, whose leadership and excellence continue to make a lasting impact both in and out of the classroom.

During her time at Darlington High School, Chauncey began as a saxophonist before transitioning to the French horn, ultimately serving as both a section leader and drum major under the direction of Dr. Brendan L. Johnson. Her musical leadership played a critical role in helping the band earn its first superior ratings in both Concert Band and Marching Band.

In the fall of 2019, Chauncey enrolled at Hampton University, where she earned multiple academic and band scholarships and flourished as a student leader. She graduated in 2023 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and is now proudly serving as a teacher in the state of Virginia, currently in her third year of teaching. Committed to continuous growth, she plans to begin her master’s degree later this year.

“Chauncey Goodson was a force of positivity and purpose from the moment she stepped on the field,” said Dr. Brendan L. Johnson, Director of Bands at Darlington High School. “She not only led with confidence as a drum major but also carried a heart for service and excellence that continues to show in her work as an educator. She represents the true spirit of what it means to be a Marching Falcon.”

The Darlington Marching Falcon Band celebrates Chauncey Goodson for her continued commitment to excellence in education and for being a shining example of leadership, service, and success.
