Darlington High School 2019 recent graduates received over 7 Million Dollars in Band Scholarships.
The 2019 senior class of Darlington High School Band has broken a record and made history at Darlington High School. There has never been a class to achieve such a high amount in band scholarship offers. These students have been selected by multiple colleges such as Clemson University, Benedict College, Bethune - Cookman University, Allen University, Hampton University, South Carolina State University, Claflin University and many more. After speaking with Director of Bands, Brendan Johnson, this is what he has to say about the 2019 senior class: "This class has probably been one of the most successful classes that we've had, not to mention the largest. It's good to see that not only is our retention rate high in band participation, but it's also high in our students attending college. As a band director, I'm so proud at the fact that we now have students attending schools all over the U.S for free thanks to band."
