Darlington High School Band alumnae graduates from South Carolina State University.
Maliyah Taylor is a native of Darlington, South Carolina. She begin her journey at Darlington High School in 2013 and graduated from DHS in 2017. While attending Darlington High School, Maliyah was a member of the Darlington Marching Band for three years as a Flutist. Maliyah has been under the leadership of current Director Mr. Brendan L. Johnson since her second year at Darlington High School. Upon graduating from Darlington High School, Maliyah became a student at South Carolina State University where she majored in Biology. Director of Bands Brendan Johnson says: "Maliyah always had a vibrant spirit. She was one that was considered the life of the party. She is always joking around, laughing and actively engaging with her peers. I hope that Maliyah's success is just as contagious as her caring spirit. I'm very proud of her."
While at South Carolina State University, Maliyah stayed busy with both band and her school work. She was a member of member of the Flute section known as "Tweety Byrd". She was also a member of the Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Sorrority/Fraternity.
Maliyah now plans to attend a 2 year veterinarian technician school.
