Darlington High School Band alumnae graduates from the University of South Carolina.
NyKeriah Wingate is a native of Darlington, South Carolina. She attended Mayo Magnet School in 2012 and graduated from Mayo in 2016. While attending Mayo Magnet School, NyKeriah was a member of the Darlington Marching Band for 3 years as a Dancer and Flag Girl. NyKeriah has been under the leadership of current Director Mr. Brendan L. Johnson where he also served in mentoring positions while in high school such as Captain. Upon graduating from Mayo Magnet School, NyKeriah became a student at East Carolina University and later transferred to the University of South Carolina where she majored in Hospitality Management. Director of Bands, Brendan Johnson says: "NyKeriah was always a bright and happy student full of life. There are not many times when I did not catch her smiling or joking around with her peers. I am proud of her and what's next for her in life".
While at East Carolina University, NyKeriah was a part of two different dance teams known as the "Delicate Dias" and an African Dance team known as "Motomakasi". She had the opportunity to travel and compete against other dance teams at surrounding North Carolina Colleges and Universities. While at the University of South Carolina, she joined a CoEd community service fraternity known as Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Where their values were set on being a friend, being a leader, and being of service.
NyKeriah is now working towards getting her nail technician license to take her business to the next level.
