Darlington Marching Falcon Band Celebrates Alumna Ja'Niqua McFarland’s Journey of Excellence in Science, Beauty, and Business

Darlington, SC — The Darlington High School Marching Falcon Band proudly highlights the remarkable journey of Ja'Niqua McFarland, a talented and driven alumna from the Class of 2019. Ja'Niqua was a proud member of the Marching Falcon Band, where she played the trumpet under the direction of Dr. Brendan L. Johnson, Director of Bands.

During her high school years, Ja'Niqua was an active member of the marching band, jazz band, and concert band. She played a key role in the band’s historic achievement—helping to bring Darlington High School its first-ever superior ratings in both jazz and concert band performance.

In the fall of 2019, Ja'Niqua continued her musical and academic excellence at Benedict College, receiving both band and academic scholarships. As a member of the Benedict College Band of Distinction, she showcased her talents while majoring in Biology. She earned her degree in Spring 2023, marking another milestone in her journey.

Ja'Niqua is now preparing to pursue a master’s degree while simultaneously expanding her lash business and launching her own skincare and healthcare product line in the near future.

“Ja'Niqua has always stood out as a visionary,” said Dr. Brendan L. Johnson. “She’s not only talented, but she’s also ambitious, creative, and driven. She’s the type of leader who takes what she’s learned and turns it into opportunity—for herself and others. I couldn’t be more proud.”
