Darlington "Total Package" Jazz Band Receive the Highest Rating of Superior at the South Carolina Band Director's Association Jazz Performance Assessment.
On March 5th 2022, Darlington High School's Jazz Band traveled to Newberry College in Newberry, SC to be adjudicated at the 2022 Jazz Performance Assessment. This event is for all public school jazz bands that would like to be assessed for comments or a rating. The ratings are Superior, Excellent, Good and Poor. The Darlington High School "Total Package" Jazz Band received the highest rating of Superior.
The Selections performed were MANTECA, AFTER SUNSET & AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH. Director of Bands Brendan Johnson stated "the kids have worked very hard. They were hungry for the rating they received on today. The Jazz Band is one of our most prestige ensembles and have proven themselves to be extremely talented and devoted. They'll forever cherish this moment." Although Mr. Johnson is the head director of Darlington's Band Program, he could not have done it without the help of his associate directors Mr. Johnus Greenlee & Mr. Carl Sinkler.
