Marching Falcon Band Honors Alumnus Dantrell Douglas for Academic Excellence and Leadership
Darlington, SC — The Darlington High School Marching Falcon Band proudly celebrates the accomplishments of Dantrell Douglas, a 2019 graduate of Darlington High School and a distinguished alumnus of the Marching Falcon Band. During his time at DHS, Dantrell showcased his musical versatility by performing on Alto Saxophone and French Horn under the direction of Dr. Brendan L. Johnson, Director of Bands.
While in high school, Dantrell was an integral member of the jazz band, concert band, and marching band, playing a pivotal role in helping the program earn its first-ever superior ratings in jazz and concert band. His leadership and dedication stood out even then.

Dantrell began his college journey at Bethune-Cookman University in 2019, earning band and academic scholarships, and serving as French Horn section leader. He later transferred to the University of South Carolina Aiken in 2021, where he majored in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Allied Health.

At USC Aiken, Dantrell continued to lead, becoming a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a USCA Admissions Ambassador, an active participant in RISE Campus Ministries, and a peer coach for the Center for Student Achievement. He graduated in Spring 2024 and now plans to pursue a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, aiming to be a proud representative of the 1% of Black males in his field.
“Dantrell has always been a force of quiet strength and excellence,” said Dr. Brendan L. Johnson. “He took every opportunity in music and academics to make an impact. He represents the best of what it means to be a Marching Falcon—resilient, focused, and committed to purpose.”
The Darlington High School Marching Falcon Band salutes Dantrell Douglas on his accomplishments and bright future. We are proud to celebrate his journey and his commitment to making history in healthcare and beyond.
